How
To Open the CD / DVD Drive on a Mac Pro
If you are a Windows user who recently switched to a Mac for the first time, you may find several things that initially frustrate you, but eventually truly makes your life easier. Unfortunately, a Mac doesn't come with an "Easy" button and there is a lack of good instructions for things like initializing a second hard drive on your Mac. And that brings us to the CD / DVD drive on the Mac Pro.
New Mac users may spend quite a bit of time looking for the "magic button" on the Mac Pro unit to open the CD / DVD drive. The problem is that you'll never find it. It doesn't exist.
So if you're trying to opne the CD / DVD drive on a Mac Pro, here is the step-by-step instructions to accomplish that:
Step 1: On your keyboard, hold down the Eject button (to the right of the F12 button).
The CD / DVD drive will open.
Step 2: Insert the CD or DVD into the tray and either press the eject button again, or slightly push the tray and it will go back in automatically.
Step 3: On the right top of your Mac Pro you'll see the CD appear which you can now click on..
This process may seem more complicated than just hitting the CD/DVD button on a PC, but you'll come to appreciate that you can quickly open the tray without bending over (until you have to put in the CD, of course).
