How
To Fix Microsoft Word When it Freezes and You Can't Select Text
by Joe Tracy, Publisher of NEWSdial.com
Microsoft Word 2007 has a very annoying problem that happens on some systems after Microsoft does a Word 2007 or security update. What happens is that after one of these updates, a user tries to open a document and one or more of several things happens:
1) Microsoft Word freezes.
2) You can't select any text in Microsoft Word 2007.
3) You try to open a Word document and only a blank screen shows up.
4) You get an error message that Word has stopped working.
What's amazing about this problem is that it has been around for years and Microsoft has done nothing to fix it. It affects thousands of users and many don't know what to search for online in order to fix the problem.
We're happy to share with you how to overcome this problem. Be sure to bookmark this page or print the instructions below because even though it fixes the problem, next time Microsoft does and update to Word, the problem will present its ugly head again.
Here's the solution:
Step 1: Close Microsoft Word if it is open.
Step 2: From your computer, select the Start button.
Step 3: At the bottom of the panel that opens is a Search option (says "Start Search" in the box). Type in the following (without the quotes) - "regedit"
Step 4: You may be prompted to continue. If so, click "Continue".
Step 5: The regedit program will open. Navigate to the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Office > 12.0 > Word.
Step 6: In the Word folder there is a folder called Data. Select the Data folder and delete it.
Step 7: Close the Regedit screen.
Step 8: Restart Microsoft Word 2007 and it will work perfect now!
There is code that you can add to the embed code that will, by default, show the high quality version of the video.
Now you can get back to work. So what happened? When Microsoft does an update some Data files are corrupted. When you delete the Data file, it deletes the corrupted files. Then when you open Word, it creates a new Data file that is free from corruption. It's really something Microsoft needs to look into and fix, but hasn't yet.
Good luck!
