Three Tips for Boosting Your Self Confidence

We all want to feel good about ourselves, but, for many, this is a challenge. High self-esteem can help make you more money, look and feel better physically, and be able to communicate better with others. If you are one of the many people out there will low self-image, you might be in need of some simple ways of building your own self-esteem. Here are three quick tips that can help build your self-confidence and raise your self-esteem.

Self Esteem Boosters
1. Block out negative messages with positive thoughts. We fill our minds each day with thoughts about everything we see, hear, or touch. Many of these thoughts can be triggered from negative messages that are received from television, radio, advertisements, newspapers, and overhearing other people talk to each other.

Negative thoughts can deplete our mind and body of energy and block the flow of attracting self confidence and self esteem into our lives. Listening and thinking about negative messages can bring you down and make you look negatively at your own life. Prevent negative messages from lowering your self-confidence by using your thoughts to talk to yourself in a positive manner, as often as you can.

For example, repeat to yourself “I like myself”. This may seem silly, but give it a try. I bet that if you go to the mirror right now and repeat out loud “I like myself!” 50 times, it will be impossible to keep from smiling.

You can also think positive thoughts that are more specific. For example, see an add with a skinny model that would normally make you feel inferior, think to yourself “Her eyes are a beautiful blue color, just like mine.” If you turn what is normally a negative thought into a positive comparison, you can learn to look at yourself differently and like yourself more.

2. Dress up and clean up. You will be shocked at just how much more confidence you will have just by spending a few extra minutes in the morning dressing up and looking your best. It feels great when you are wearing your best, well fitting, clothes, are well groomed, and are surrounded by a clean environment. So what if it is a Saturday? Put on your nice clothes, get the car washed, and style your hair. With any luck, you will feel better instantly.

Increase your self esteem even more by giving thanks to what you are, how you look, and what you are doing. Say “thank you” to yourself to everything you see, all whom you meet, and each smile that you receive.

3. Stand up straight. How you stand definitely sends out a message to the world, and in turn, brings that message back to you. There have been scientific studies showing how posture affects our mood. Slouching produces a depressed mood while standing tall and upright will actually lift your mood. Help build up your confidence by pulling back those shoulders, stop that slouch, and walk proud. It also helps to add a smile.

These three tips should help you on your way to greater self confidence and higher self esteem. Once your self image has been boosted, you will look better, act more positively, and, most likely, get more out of life. Enjoy life more with a better image of your self and your life.
