in Oahu, Hawaii. Originally starting as a fruit stand in the 1950's,
The Dole Plantation has grown into a complete family vacation sightseeing
experience. The Dole Plantation now boasts the world's largest maze,
with 1.7 miles of outdoor paths stretching out over 100,000 square
feet. The center of the outdoor maze is designed in the shape of
(what else) a giant pineapple! Other key features of the Dole plantation
include the Pineapple Express Train Tour that departs every half
hour between 9am and 5 pm and takes you and your family on a two-mile,
20 minutes train tour around the North Shore of Oahu and the Plantation
Garden Tour where you can take a first hand look not only and pineapple
crops but other crops grown on the North Shore such as bananas, coffee,
cacau, papaya, and mango. Don't forget to try out unique foods specific
to the Dole Plantation while there.
How to Get There
The Dole Plantation is 3 miles north of Wahiawa, about ten minutes
away from Haleiwa and the North Shore. The address is 64-1550
Kamehameha Highway, Wahiawa, HI 96786 in central Oahu. It is
about a 40 minute drive from Waikiki, taking the H-1 West out
of Waikiki to the H-2 North which will turn into the 99 (Kamehameha
Highway).
Cost of Admission
While visiting The Dole Plantation is free, the different attractions
on the plantation vary in price. To ride the Pineapple Express
the cost is $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for children. The Pineapple
Garden Maze costs $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children, and the
Plantation Garden Tour is $3.75 for adults, $3.00 for children.
